Benitez to assess the trio before the Norwich trip

Yerry Mina has started only six matches this season as he has suffered a series of soft tissue injuries

Rafael Benitez says Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Richarlison and Leri Mina have all been in training this week and he will make a decision on all three tomorrow.

While Calvert Lewin returned from a long absence at the start of the year against Brighton, Richarlison and Mina have been out since the middle of last month and will be treated “with caution”, in the manager’s words, as the team prepares for the match with bottom club Norwich City tomorrow.

Before today, only Tom Davies was expected to be ruled out after undergoing surgery for a hamstring injury that required two months of recovery time, but Benitez revealed that there may be one case of coronavirus on the team.

The Blues will be chasing only their second win since the two teams last met at Goodison Park in September, which means only 9 points and five places separate them over the weekend.

Benitez has come under increasing criticism for the sluggish way his accusations have kicked off matches this season and emphasized in his pre-match press conference today that Everton must be “more proactive” rather than reactive.

proactive? There is a first time for everything…

Father Benitez. We play with a team that has struggled all season. Do what you pay for, send a team with the right shape and layout, organized and motivated, win the match.

Peter #2
And not 5 defense against the bottom team

Posted on 01/14/2022 at 21:02:37

They looked good in training, happy and on their toes. They will all start, and they should do it even if they are 90% ready. Benitez seemed confident and resolute in the pressure, he knows it’s a huge match. I expect a convincing win for us. 4231 There are three goals tomorrow in this team;

Pickford
Patterson Ken Mina Mikulenko
Alain Duqueuri
Gray Gordon Richarlison
DCL

Godfrey or Keane as CB? I can not make a decision.

Prediction: Norwich City 1, Everton 3

Not sure if I would love to play Mina. Good player, yes. But he will play one or two games and then explode again, before going out to play matches for Colombia and back with another excuse not to play for Everton for a while. And sorry, his contract has expired.

So if we can sell it now.

Oh, Calwaert Lewin and Richarlison. welcome back. I missed you.

If FSW can’t organize his team to win this game, that’s positive evidence of his complete inability to make a hole in a wet echo and with only one conclusion.

Posted on 01/14/2022 at 21:13:25

I think even Benitez could put together a team to beat Norwich.

Posted on 01/14/2022 at 21:18:20

If the guys seem happy Tony, I’ll make sure I get a lift home if I’m Benitez.

Posted on 01/14/2022 at 21:20:48

Can’t I imagine he’d start Patterson on Coleman

Posted on 01/14/2022 at 21:27:41

Even though this game is another level of “must win”, we all know that even if we fail to win or, God forbid, lose to Norwich, the manager is not going anywhere.

5 Back at home to Brighton and out of Hull, why would this madman change his lackluster system against the great Norwich?

My stubborn, arrogant way or the highway?? The situation will kill us.

Mark my words, this joker is not enthusiastic.

Half of the command center we need might already be here. When Brantwaite is fit, he should be a part of the backbone of the team.

Posted on 01/14/2022 at 22:39:36

I don’t expect any change in setup and format from the Hull match.

But this is a game that has to be won, and Norwich will take over this game and will have his chances.

The heat is burning and I feel like there is a powder keg of frustration boiling between Everton, across all viewpoints.

Rafa defends all Everton players, and non-defenders, but he is genuinely ill due to poor performance and football style.

The Spanish Inquisition over Everton appears to be gaining momentum and Moshiri is backing his man. But we don’t want Everton to succeed and, as they say, there is no winning without pain.

Every game is a cup final, but tomorrow must win Everton, no excuses.

Posted on 01/14/2022 at 22:40:38

I don’t care which team starts against the “bottom feeders” who should get three points. Anything less than that would be another catastrophe and the death knell for Rafa.

I’m sure he would still consider building a Rondon even if a decent DCL.

Certainly God would not start with five defenses against this lot.

He brought in another player on the cheap even though they got $25 million from the sale of Digne, but I suppose this will somewhat offset the cost of the two new full-backs who may not start tomorrow.

If the invader can do some good work like Townsend and Gray we can’t complain but we have to start winning again.

Brian, I’d like to see Branthwaite at Mina’s side. But then we have Godfrey, too.

With two new linebackers and 3 Richarlison, Gray and Gordon behind Calvert Lewin as well as Townsend and Ghazi options, suddenly it doesn’t look that bad. Gordon’s number 10, anyone? Or will that restrict his play? It would be him or Richarlison.

We still need to take care of the gap between midfield and defense if we use 2, but if Mina plays, he should raise it.

It’s match day at least and we can talk about football instead of politics.

It is heartening to see the injury list removed. We just have to win this. Let’s attack the rest of the season like the team he has.

Posted on 01/14/2022 at 00:11:16

Huge game.

With the fixture list as it stands, three points will provide much-needed momentum and a little breathing room in terms of the league table. And the loss will be… well, let’s not go there because it’s not going to happen anyway. (Is it Benitez???)

Fortunately for everyone involved, it looks like we recovered some important players from injury in time. You don’t really trust Benitez to pick the right team, and I don’t think we have enough quality to let the three players referenced in the headline get off that team either. So I hope Dom will at least show up from the start, with Ritchie off the bench.

If Mina is fully fit, he should start for me, but his injury record speaks for itself. There’s no point in risking him if he’s anything less than full fit because he’ll end up another long run at the coaches table.

Norwich had a good stint at the end of November, but the “new coach’s bounce back” was short-lived. Six league defeats and only one league goal in the quarter-finals. They appear to be dead ducks as far as survival in the Premier League goes; All three points are an absolute necessity.
I will be watching this person with great interest and I will admit, there is not the slightest bit of fear.

I tend to go with Richarlison on the left and Gordon on the right. The rate of work of these two is so good that when we defend, we have two wide midfielders as part of a 4 compact midfield. However, when attacking, they immediately play as wings.

With those two wide, I don’t know if we need an extra body in midfield. However, it depends on whether the defense has the confidence to play a little higher.

Posted on 01/15/2022 at 00:40:25

It’s clearly good to see the injury situation improve, and the 3 new players included. I agree with Jay (11). Benitez remains a bigger concern. Don’t be surprised to see 5 at the back, despite the evidence in recent weeks against teams we have to beat. Our coach said yesterday that it was about the players, not his tactics. Yes, correct. Great game. I’m looking forward to.

Gordon has been our best player in the last 3/4 games (albeit with a bit of competition).

Falling off the seat feels very predictable. It would be so ridiculous, and so wrong, that it would be almost uncommon not to drop it.

Townsend will probably start. He will likely play 5-4-1

I expect:
Pickford
Milo Godfrey Ken Coleman Patterson
Alan Ducourt Townsend (replaced by Gordon or The invader) Gray (replaced by Ritchie)
DCL (to be replaced by Rondon)

I wish:
Pickford
Milo Godfrey Mina Patterson
Alain Duqueuri
Townsend Gray Gordon
DCL

Ritchie, Al-Ghazi and Dubin as options on the bench.

I expect: 2-1 win, bad, but this is the worst team in the league, we even couldn’t… Can we?

I hope: 4-0 win. DCL is back in the midst of scoring, and Gordon is with another, a target for one of the backs to help them out.

Posted on 01/15/2022 at 03:21:23

Alan appears to have Covid, so Doukuri and Gomez in MF with back 4 from Patterson Mina Godfrey Muolenko
Gordon Gray and Ritchie with DCL in the lead.

Blue 23 points. forward and upward.

Posted on 01/15/2022 at 03:54:44

I wouldn’t risk my enamel because the man is made of glass. Let him be fully fit and ready for the return leg against Villa.

For me, 3 featured Godfrey, Keane, and Branthwaite.
Miko and Patterson as Wing Back
Gomez and Doukuri in the middle of the field
Gordon, Gray and DCL are ahead of us 3

Richarlison will be coming to Gordon in about 60 minutes
Gbamin for Gomes with about 15 people left
Ghazi Gray late in the game

Posted on 01/15/2022 at 04:11:33

Danny @15, I’m going to pick Gray for the 10th role. Gordon has matured his game well into a wide role, so let’s keep him there this season.
