Rangnick insists Manchester United players are adapting to his tactics

It has been reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has been baffled by the lack of extra work being done by the majority of Manchester United’s squad.

The Portuguese star returned to Old Trafford in the summer after 12 years.

His tireless leadership and standards tend to bolster a team that has finished third and second in each of the past two seasons.

However, this was not achieved with the loss of Ronaldo’s team in seventh place.

The number 7 jersey, now 36, is known for his willingness to do the extra work, which has allowed him to stay at his best despite his age.

And the Daily Mail reported that Ronaldo does not believe how few players remain after training to work on various aspects of their fitness.

He also privately complained that he’s one of the only players on the team who goes to the gym to do extra work before and after training at Carrington.

United’s lackluster session has already seen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lose his job.

Ralph Rangnick now leads a squad that includes many young players, but many of them seem to be falling short of the level Ronaldo is striving for.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has spoken frankly about the modern-day player, claiming receiving criticism is a major flaw.

He told Sky Sports: “I remember when I was 18, some of the older players talked to me and I thought that he should improve, they know more than me because they are going through more bad moments.

“This new generation in general does not accept it if you criticize it. I have children that I know. They do the opposite.

“I’m not saying our players but in general. You have to find the right balance to talk to them.

“It’s a new year and we have to turn the page. We have so many things to win. We have to believe it or it will be a nightmare.

“I am here to help. When they need my support and advice, I will be the first to help.

The 36-year-old has always been praised for his extra work

“If you don’t want my help and advice, do your job by looking at yourself. Do your best to help the team.”

Ronaldo also claimed, based on his physique, that he plans to play until his forties.

“Genetically I feel like I’m 30 years old. I take great care of my body and mind,” he said. ESPN .

“The thing I’ve learned recently is that after 33 years, I think the body can get done if you need to, but the real battle is mental.”
