Dante nodded the ball with his head against Abdallah Sylla’s outstretched arm, causing referee Rudy Bouquet to suggest a penalty. From eleven metres, Kasper Dolberg shot hard through the middle. Nantes came along in the last minute of the first half: André Girotto took a free kick from 25 meters under the wall; Goalkeeper Walter Benitez got his hand on the ball, but that wasn’t enough to block a 1-1.
In the opening phase of the second half, Kluivert was a threat, although his control of the ball left much to be desired. Nonetheless, Nice managed to make it 2-1: ten minutes into the break, Khavrin Thuram started a quick run from half of his team and came far into the opponent’s half. Thuram then entered into a double match with Amin Al-Juweiri and had a spot in the penalty area to find the right corner. Substitute Andy Delortt missed a good chance in the match 3-1, after which Nantes became more dangerous. The last ball of the match, a header from Yannis Mbemba, just failed to equalise.
