Klopp responds to Salah’s statements regarding contract negotiations

Mohamed Salah is happy, Jurgen Klopp is happy, and if contract negotiations are as rosy as they seem, Liverpool will be very happy.

Salah may miss Egypt’s national team at the Africa Cup of Nations, but the name is still on everyone’s lips.

His presence, quality and drive cross thousands of miles between Merseyside and Cameroon, where this year’s Africa Cup of Nations takes place.

This is why every Liverpool fan, player and coaching staff will pray to the gods of football for the King of Egypt to extend his reign at Anfield.

And the positive situation with the negotiations that Liverpool currently finds itself in would be a clear indication that the Reds have not only learned from their mistakes in Jorginho Wijnaldum’s predicament, but also those of Arsenal.

The Dutchman was a vital part of Klopp’s midfield, swiftly switching play between defense and attack, while protecting spaces vacated by Andrew Robertson.

While his goal-scoring and assisting records have been mediocre, Klopp’s reliance and confidence in the Paris Saint-Germain superstar is now clear to all.

Unfortunately for Liverpool, Wijnaldum left the club for nothing, as his contract expired without an extension.

Had the two parties made clear their future desires and ambitions much earlier, Wijnaldum would have put pen to paper on a new deal or left the club for a transfer fee.

At the age of 31, Wijnaldum was entering his final years as big money contracts from the likes of PSG were few and far between as shooting stars.

And it could prove hard to find for the former Newcastle United star who made just ten league appearances all season for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Wijnaldum left the club for nothing, after letting his contract fall apart at the club

However, it seems that dealing with Salah’s situation is far from the hole they dug themselves with Wijnaldum.

Salah still has 18 months left on his deal at Anfield, which means that if the worst happens and the Egyptian decides to look for new pastures, Liverpool will be able to get a large fee, and will have enough time to reinvest in his team.

If Al-Masry were to demand a uniquely huge salary at the club, Salah’s humble nature and brilliance on the pitch, suggest there would be no problems in the form of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the club.

“I want to stay, but it’s not in my hands,” Salah told GQ this week.

“It’s in their hands. They know what I want. I don’t ask for crazy things.”

“I’ve been here in my fifth year now. I know the club very well. I love the fans. The fans love me.

“Administration [know] the situation. It’s in their hands.”

Salah’s performances on the pitch are further evidence of his fitness, recovery, conditioning and motivation for success.

The same cannot be said of Aubameyang, as he put pen to paper on his lucrative new contract in the summer of 2020.

Gabon’s signing of a new deal has been announced as a statement of intent by an Arsenal side that has repeatedly seen their best players leave their title opponents over the years.

Unfortunately, the new deal proved disastrous, amid the recent abandonment of Aubameyang and the dramatic fallout with Mikel Arteta.

Aubameyang was a fantastic striker for Arsenal prior to his new contract, but Salah has been arguably the best player in world football since the start of the season.

Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic appears to be the man Arsenal want to fill in the void left by the former Borussia Dortmund fighter.

But there are very few players in world football who can achieve gold and titles in the way Salah offers.
