Passengers strike deals for easyJet ski flights after France’s travel ban is lifted

Skiers race to the slopes in large numbers as France has confirmed it will welcome British tourists.

In the hours following the Paris government announcement, low-cost airline easyJet reported a 600 percent increase in UK bookings to popular French ski destinations for the remainder of the winter season.

Last minute bookings to Switzerland also peaked immediately after the news broke, with a 386 percent increase in flight bookings.

As snow continues to cover the peaks across Europe, winter sports enthusiasts now have even more opportunities to hit the slopes. It is no surprise that more and more winter sports enthusiasts are taking advantage of the conditions – until the end of the season in March 2022 – and booking a ski holiday.

Thousands of easyJet seats to France and Switzerland and other destinations serving Europe’s best ski resorts are still available to book for this winter, including the biannual February.

The airline has also extended the Big Orange Sale, with up to 25 percent off select seats and low fares bookable until January 18, starting at just £14.99. It will operate 37 routes this winter from the UK to 10 destinations across Europe serving the continent’s main ski areas.

Passengers buy flights to ski resorts

Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK country manager, said: “With France once again welcoming British tourists, skiing is back in full swing. This is good news for UK consumers, particularly those wishing to book a family holiday at the last minute or plan to hit the slopes, as low fares are still available this winter on thousands of flights to France, including for semi-annual flights.

“We know there is pent-up demand with many desperate to get away this year, which we continue to see each time restrictions are lifted. As the number of flights is already set to increase in the coming weeks, we will continue to review our schedule to meet the demand and we look forward to taking our customers on a much-anticipated vacation this winter.”
