How are the Eredivisie clubs doing in the middle of the season and what are the expectations for the second half of the season? This week we evaluate all 18 clubs with PSV Eindhoven today.
Is the season going well so far?
Leader at Christmas. So in competition: Yes. PSV lost to Ajax and Feyenoord, but otherwise only lost points in two matches: 1-1 over Heerenveen and a 2-1 loss at Willem II, both after a foul by goalkeeper Joel Dromel.
In Europe there is not enough in the temporary balance sheet. After kicking off the Champions League preliminary rounds, PSV Eindhoven were relegated to the Conference League in February. The point of improvement is clear: the big players win, too. and fewer goals. Then PSV Eindhoven can win the tournament against expectations. The team has no real goalscorer, at least ten players score three or more goals in the league. Goals come from everywhere.
Will it be an exciting transition period?
PSV acted very quickly when Davey Propper handed his contact. Joey Veerman (Heerenveen) was immediately purchased. At the back, head coach John de Jong is now exploring the market for a temporary replacement for Andre Ramalho. He was injured months ago. The ideal would be a build like Ricardo Rodriguez. The Swiss international fell by the wayside at Milan in 2020 and PSV could hire him as a temporary left-back. Ibrahim Sangare is attracting England’s interest, but he will stay in Eindhoven anyway. PSV is trying to help Eran Zahavi with the impact of the robbery on his home last season. The Israeli has doubts about his future in the Netherlands.

Who should we watch out for in the second half of the season?
On Cody Gakbo. He portrays the hunger to win his first national title since 2018, as an Eindhoven native and Eindhoven’s best player. Foreign clubs can sign up for Orange International this summer. And how strong is Noni Madwiki’s comeback after his fourth muscle injury in a year? The English teenager can dribble like Arjen Robben, but his outbursts also cause him physical problems. Madueke must now compete with Ritsu Doan.
Final ranking predictions: 1.
