Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers are looking to Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Watford for the Double Gameweek 22 captain, and as usual, the Captain Sensible article is here to highlight which assets have the best chance of being drawn.
First, we’ll evaluate the implications of the Captain Double Gameweek 22 poll, before analyzing the best options, Rate My Team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools Evaluation is before the deadline of 18:30 GMT on Friday.
Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.5m) is the captain’s poll leader for Double Gameweek 22, with 37.44% of total votes from our users at the time of writing.
Harry King (£12.2m) is in second place, backed by 15.68%, leading with a double header against north London rivals Arsenal and Leicester City, two opponents he has traditionally performed well against.
Emmanuel Denis (£6.1 million) is third with 14.96%, followed by James Madison (£6.9 million) and Josh King (£5.8m), 7.01% and 3.37%, respectively.
Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo He hopes to return to play in Double Gameweek 22, after providing a positive update for his quadriceps issue on Thursday:
“Hopefully. We’ll try on Thursday. I’ll try to train as usual. Let’s see how the body reacts. Fingers crossed. I’m confident.”
I’m fine. I have a bit of a touch but, you know, that’s part of my job. You know, we have to feel some pain sometimes. It’s not a big deal and I hope to be doing well soon.”
As the penalty shooter and the focal point of attack, Ronaldo is clearly one of the top captain options on display at Double Gameweek 22, as he scored eight goals and three assists in 16 Premier League games in 2021/22.
Ronaldo under Rangnick – Premier League:
|Points in the match||5.2|
|goal attempts p. 90||3.60|
|Shots in the penalty area p. 90||2.84|
|Big Chances p.90||0.95|
|xG p. 90||0.64|
|xA p. 90||0.03|
However, United’s Double Gameweek 22 matches are not live.
Aston Villa have improved defensively under Steven Gerrard, and could hand their starts to new deals Lucas Denny (£5.0 million) and Philip Coutinho (£7.0m), while Brentford is a different offer at home, having conceded only three goals in their last four games, despite facing Manchester City during that period.
The Red Devils’ form is a bigger concern too, having scored more than once in just one match under Ralf Rangnick. Because of this, we could see a change of system on Saturday, something the German coach touched after Monday’s narrow 1-0 win over Villa:
“In the second half we were on the counter-attack and we could have done more of those situations. We made wrong decisions sometimes but when we moved to Diamonds in midfield we had more control.”
If it comes true, it might be good news for Bruno Fernandez (£11.6m), who cut a poor figure in recent games, having been suspended for the 3-1 win over Burnley and only came on as a second-half substitute against Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, in the diamond formation, you would expect the playmaker to be deployed as the traditional No. 10 player, his favorite role.
